  How to use the research:
Type of Shelter:

This parameter can be used to narrow down the research to one specific type of shelter. If no type is selected (and the menu is left as is with the word “selection”), the research will be carried out without considering the type of shelter.

Geographic Area: These areas are used to limit the research to a specific Geographic Area. If no selection is made (and the 4 menus are left as are), the geographic area will left out of consideration when the reasearch is carried out.
Otherwise, based on the selection made, the research will be narrowed down to that particular area.
The subdivisions are organized into 4 categories: NATIONS, REGIONS, MOUNTAIN GROUPS, and VALLEYS.
Example: by choosing the Nation (a. g. Italy)), the research will be narrowed down to include only those shelters found in Italy.
By selecting the Region (e. g. Lombardia)the research will be concentrated on only the shelters located in Lombardia, Italy.
By choosing the Mountain Group (e. g. Alpi Retiche west) ), the research will be narrowed down to the shelters found in this mountain group and not consider the Region or Nation (this is the case because some mountain groups are located in more than one region or even more than one nation).
By choosing the Valley (e.g. Valtellina), the research will be narrowed down to only the shelters found in Valtellina without taking into account the Mountain Area of the Region or Nation (this happens because some valleys are located between more than one mountain area which, in turn, may be located in more than one region or nation).
Difficulty:

This parameter can be used to narrow down the research to a specific difficulty (the parameter “Difficulty” refers to the type of route that leads to the shelter for example: unconnected path, traces of path, well equipped paths, parts on snow field, etc.). If no difficulty is selected (and the menu is left with “selection”), the research will be carried out without consideration as to the difficulty.

Heating:

With this choice, the research will narrowed down to include only those shelters with heating systems.

Electricity:

With this choice, the research will include only those shelters which have working electrical systems.

W.C.:

With this choice, the research will only include those shelters with serviceable bathroom facilities.

Hot Water:

With this choice, the research will include only those shelters which provide hot water.

Traverses:

With this choice, the research will be narrowed down to shelters from which it is possible to arrive at other shelters on foot.

Climbing Sites:

With this choice, the research will be narrowed down to shelters which have a climbing crag nearby or where it is possible to climb (either sport or traditional routes) in the vicinity.

  Advice for Research:

The research is carried out by taking into account a huge amount of data. Therefore, the more parameters that we include in the research, the faster and more responsive it will be.
For example: if, as a parameter, we choose only Mountain Hut (for Type of Shelter), all of the mountain huts present in the database will be listed (hundreds of shelters to list).
If we choose Mountain Hut and Val Grosina as parameters (for Type of Shelter and Geographic Area), all of the mountain huts located in Val Grosina present in the database will be listed (less than 20 shelters to list).
If, in the end, we select Mountain Hut, Val Grosina, Heating (for Type of Shelter, Geographic Area and the presence of a Heating system), all of the mountain huts with heating systems found in Val Grosina present in the database will be listed (only a few structures to list).
