RESEARCH WITH SPECIFIC TERMS |

| How
to use the research |
|
Terms:
|
If you insert more than one word in the “terms” space,
don’t seperate them with commas. Use a
white space (by pressing the space bar).
Don't use generic words
(such as Valle, Pizzo, Monte, Rifugio, Bivacco
ecc..) before the name you search: the research
will show you all the names which have
the generec term you inserted before, with an
enormous amount
of data. |
| Operators: |
Both if the operators work providing that the
research is carried out using 2 or more terms,
for example: to search for the terms Black and
White, type in the words Black and White in the
terms area, seperating the words with a white
space (by pressing the space bar).
By choosing
the operator AND the research will show all of
the structures in which both of the terms were
found; if the operator OR is selected instead,
the research will show all of the structures
in which at least one of the terms was found. |
| Geographic Area: |
Area: This choice can be used to narrow down
research to a specific geographic area. If no
geographic area is selected (and the 4 menus
are left as is), the research will be carried
out without considering the geographic area.
But, according to the selection made, the research
will be narrowed down to that particular area.
There are 4 subdivisions; Nations, Regions, Mountain
Groups, and Valleys. For example; by selecting
the Nation (e.g. Italy), the research will be
narrowed down to only those structures located
in Italy.
By selecting the Region (e.g. Lombardia), the
research will be narrowed down to only those
structures found in Lombardia, Italy.
By selecting the Mountain Group (e.g. Alpi
Retiche west), the reasearch will be
limited to only those structures found in this
mountain
group without regards to the Region or Nation.
(This is the case because some Mountain
Groups are located in more thsn one Region or even more
than one Nation.)
By selecting the Valley (e.g. Valtellina), the
research will be limited to only those structures
found in Valtellina without regards to the Mountain
Area, Region or Nation. (This is due to the fact
that some valleys are located between more than
one Mountain Group which are located in more
than one Region or even more than one Nation.) |
| Sections: |
Every structure present in Rifugi-Bivacchi
has been provided with different areas of information,
among which are Description and Access. Because
we consider these areas to be some of the most
important and distinctive, we have included them
as possible areas of research.
By selecting the area “Description”,
the research will show all of the structures whose
description contains the terms inserted.
By selecting the area “Access”, the
research will show all of the structures whose
access contains the terms inserted.
By selecting “Description and Access”,
the research will show all of the structures in
which the terms inserted are found in one of the
two areas. |
| Type of Shelter: |
This parameter can be used to narrow down
the research to a specific type of shelter.
If no type is selected (and the menu is left
as is with the word “selection”),
the reserch will be carried out without regards
to the type of structure.

| Advice
for Research: |
Every term inserted in the “terms”
area must be searched for singularly within the data present in the database.
Therefore, the fewer the terms included in the research, the faster
the responses will be.The research is carried out based on a huge amount of data.
The more parameters we are able to use in
the research, the faster and more responsive it will be.
For example: if we search for the terms “Black” and “White”
and as a parameter we choose only “Description” , the terms will be searched for
in the descriptions of all the structures in the database (thousands of items to check).
If we select “Description, Bivouac” , the terms will be searched for in the
descriptions of bivouacs (hundreds of items to check).
In conclusion, if we select as parameters
“Description, Bivouac, Valtellina” , the research
will be limited to the descriptions of bivouacs
found in Valtellina (a few items to check).
