Place of departure: The Ghiacciaio dei Forni Hotel, which can be reached on the road (6 km) from S. Caterina Valfurva (S. Caterina is 13 km from bormio an the Gavia State Road 300).
Altitude at departurte: 2170 m
Altitude gain: 530 m
Time: 2 hours
Difficulty : T = (Tourist) very easy uncomplicated route. Footpaths, unpaved roads and level trails.

Access:

From the parking lot near the Ghiacciaio dei Forni Hotel (2170 m), follow the unpaved road that curves up along the right side of the valley. Don't take the turnoff on the left . The road turns gradually towards the north and enters Cedèc Valley, providing a beautiful and impressive view of the large glacier and the mountaintops that distinguish the whole opposite side of the valley. After the first part, the path becomes gentler and offers views made more interesting by the progressive appearance of the gran Zebru pyramids that close out the valley to the north. A last steep but brief part takes you to the mountain hut. Note: It's possible to arrive by a jeep shuttle service from the Ghiacciaio dei Forni Hotel.

Traverse:

To V° Alpini mountain hut 2878 m, via the northern pass of Zebru 3001 m (EE; 3 hrs).
To V° Alpini mountain hut 2878 m, over the Cedèc Hanging Glacier, the Pale Rosse Col 3379 m, the Miniera Hanging Glacier, the Miniera Pass 3353 m, and the Zebru Hanging Glacier (F; 5 hrs).
To Branca mountain hut 2487 m, along the left orographic side of Cedèc Valley (left side when facing downvalley) (E; 2 hrs). From Pizzini mountain hut, go down along the normal access road for about 1.5 km to a picnic area, where you'll leave the road to go towards the left. Cross the Cedrèc River and continue south over marshy ground where the trail is less evident. Without losing elevation, you'll come to a rubble strewn area, where there are signposts that mark the trails. Go a little higher than Malga dei Forni and continue halfway down the mountainside staying at about the same elevation to get to the edge of an extremely old moraine, now covered in thin grass, that lies at the threshold of the Forni Valley. With an impressive view of the snout of the Forni Glacier in front of you, go down briefly over a safe path to reach the Branca mountain hut.
To Casati-Guasti mountain hut 3254 m (E; 2 hrs.)

Climbs:

To Gran Zebru 3851 m, on the normal route. Elevation Gain: 1150 m. Difficulty: PD. Time: 4 hours. First Ascension: E.H. and E.N. Buxton, F.F. Tuckett, F. Biner and C. Michel on August 3, 1864.
Route: From the mountain hut go up the trail over detritus and morainic terrain to the base of the western branch of the Cedrèc Hanging Glacier (the eastern branch runs directly below the slopes of the ridge between Gran Zebru and Corno di Solda). Proceed over the glacier (crevasses) to the point of seperation between the two branches of the glacier, marked by a snowy gully that leads to the crest on Spalla (3462 m). From there, go over a steep snowy canal and rocky debris to get to the top.
