Access:

From Samolaco, take the SS36 state road to Novate Mezzola. From there go left on the Trivulzia provincial road, which runs along the right side (when facing downvalley) of Valchiavenna. From the village of S. Pietro di Samolaca, take the road to the monastary at 414 m. and continue a little further to an altitude of around 500 m. Then take the D16 trail, which climbs along the orographic left side of the Mengasca Valley. Go through the woods to Moot in S. Teresa at 965 m. Here the path begins to climb again through the woods westwards to Sambusina at 1180 m. From here there is a flat part which passes by various branches of the Mengasca River. Go past the Crosa Alps and the Cascinola Alps at 1407 m. Then climb towards the southwest to the meadow of the Manco Alps and continue a bit higher to the biouvac.

Traverse:

From biouvac Ledù "Bruno Petazzi" (E-2hours) go west, climbing to Bochetta di Campo at an altitude of 1921 m. From here, go downhill on the path that runs opposite the Garzelli Valley to the meadow of the Campo Alps at 1656 m. Follow the signs that lead left and, after having passed a large, isolated boulder, follow a well marked path with stone steps. Making a wide semicircle, go up a hillock of rock and grass to the rubble strewn slopes which lead to an obvious opening of the Bocchetta del Cannone between the northeast slope, Pizzo Rabbi and the northern one of Pizzo Ledù. From this opening, go downhill a short way to Lake Ledù and the biouvac.
