From Montespluga, follow the lakeshore towards the southwest to the bridge over the river of Val Loga (direction for trail C16). Cross the bridge and continue along the trail through pastures which border the river for about 2 km. Then, curving left, go up a grassy, rock strewn ridge which comes to an end at a flat area. Continue through rockier ground following the same direction to come to the ridge of the watershed on the southern side of Val Loga. At this point the ridge nearly disappears among the rocky slopes leading to the pass of Val Loga, which opens up on the crest between Val Mesolcina and Val Chiavenna.
