From the Marinelli-Bombardieri mountain hut (2813 m) take the trail that goes up from the eastern side of the square over loose rock along the flanks of the ridge of Rifugio. Pass a small river of water from the melting of glaciers and go left (north) over an intermittent path and rocky steps to come to the detritus basin which is just before the eastern part of Marinelli Pass. Now go right up a snowy slope which passes near the mound that extends from 3333 m of elevation to Punta Marinelli, where the eastern part of Marinelli Pass is located at 3120 m (1 hr and 30 min). Proceed northwest over the small, flat glacier of Fellaria and the foot of the southeast ridge of Pizzo Argent. Pass near the rocks of the southwest spur of Pizzo Zupò, where the slope becomes steeper. Go around the large crevasses and up to the large glacial saddle of Sasso Rosso Pass (3510 m), which opens up higher up between the rocks of Pizzo Zupò and the northwest ridge of Sasso Rosso.
